I've done the "enable javascript" thing, and I've downloaded the update several times and it always says it is successful, but still I can't go on any websites. I also tried downloading it to my desktop. it still always says, "you need to update or enable javascript". how else can I fix it?

What "update" for Javascript are you talking about? Javascript is built into every browser, and is updated (if need be) with any browser update. I've never seen any kind of update to download or apply for Javascript. I suspect you're confusing Java with Javascript -- they're two entirely different things. Some browsers have Javascript turned off by default, and need for you to enable it manually before you can use it on a page. Some browsers have the use of Java turned off by default, and require you to manually enable it before any page can be allowed to run a Java applet. Java is installed and maintained separately of the browser -- it is an independent programming language that just so happens to be invokable from a web page.
