Does anyone know if Lunarpages supports BlazeDS for connecting to a database from a Flash plugin application?  Anyone had success for that?  I see in some posts that people might be using PHP to connect to database from Flash/Flex app, but nothing about BlazeDS.

I think BlazeDs is a free open source Java thing that you deploy as war file, but not sure if it requires J2EE and thus might be a problem on LunarPages.

Trying to find out more before I invest my time in learning the tools.  If no BlazeDS then I will learn PHP side instead, just prefer Java.  Anyone have success with PHP from Flash app?

Thanks.

I dont work for Lunarpages but i'd be tempted to say no, Looking through the installation instructions for BlazeDs it seems more focused around people who have their own servers rather than shared hosting, i'm not sure if you have a dedicated server but i expect that would be a possibility

Thanks James.  Yes, LP recommended a VP server which I cannot afford.

I'm now looking into JAX-RS, e.g. RESTeasy, a way of making a POJO act as a web service thru HTTP calls. It looks really promising but whenever anything seems like a promising technology my next thought is that LP won't support it. This requires Java 5, and I don't know what pieces of J2EE if any.  Supposedly runs in any servlet container but that may presuppose that J2EE is turned on fully.  Know anything about this?

It's really hard to get answers, but that's the cost of cheap hosting I suppose.
