As you might have seen announced here, Lunarforums.com has a new theme!  Applause

I created this thread especially for your user feedback, comments and suggestions.  Overall, this is my most favorite theme we have had thus far, in over three years.  (Yes, I do like it THAT much).  So be sure to check out the annoncement, then let us know what you think here.

Hope you like it as much as I do!  Very Happy

very nice. which theme is this? I use the old babylon theme on my msg board. Applying mods is a PITA with anything other than default but I haven't added a mod in a couple of years. Waiting for SMF 2.0 to go golden.

Ditto from me.  Much "cleaner" - and the subject lines stand out better.  Good job, folks!

Sorry, but I don't like it.

1) It's fixed width, so my full-screen browser window has a lot of wasted space on left and right. It should be liquid so that it will flow to fill the full browser width and not waste space. If you're afraid that someone will use this on a browser 2000 pixels wide and have everything stretched thin, use the max-width CSS setting. My screen is 1024 wide (small these days, I guess) and there are wide blue bands on either side.

2) I don't recall what the previous theme had, but I see this one is encoded ISO-8859-1 (Latin-1). This will prevent anyone from entering non-Latin-1 characters -- was that deliberate? It won't affect me, but non-English speaking users might get upset.

3) Maybe I'll get used to the new icons, but I'm having a hard time telling "new posts waiting" board icon from "no new posts". The color differences may be a bit too subtle for (colorblind) people like me.

4) Header type is too large, resulting in wrapped lines -- not elegant looking. Consider reducing the font size.

I like the design although I agree with MrPhil that there is too much "whitespace" on the sides, although I see it is actually a liquid width design!

I like it. Looks more professional than the old one.

Good job =)

Fixed? It looks fluid here  Confused

EDIT: I don't like the quote boxes at all...Too large.

I like it as well- but I do get a fluid design.

So- thumbs up from me! (It was kind of funny- I had the forum up for a while when I was working, hit "show new posts" and BAM- the new design- made me do a double take!)

Well, I've cleared my cache several times, and there's still wide blue gutters on the side (roughly 100px each). Win XP SP3, FF3.5.3. Anyone else see this?

Oh, It appears this is set to fluid 60-70%. Which means space on the sides.(Yes we see the blue space).

OK, I think we need the width problem resolved so that there's only the two narrow blue strips, not the wide exposed background. I can live with the brown and blue envelopes for board post status -- I'm getting used to them, I guess. The header's wrapped lines might go away with a wider header. Has anyone else tried non-Latin-1 text to see what happens? I think the LF database must be UTF-8, as haven't I seen attempts to post Chinese characters (I don't have the fonts to display them)?

New complaint: Post and Quote boxes need a thin dark border to separate the bottom and right from the rest of the post. They also have a bit too much padding or margin space around them.

I'd play with the colors a bit -- while writing this post (Post reply page), I see that "Topic Summary" and the title bar of the latest post aren't clearly separated (maybe a 1px space between them, letting the white background show through?). Alternating background colors on this page (as on the read-the-topic page) would be nice.

Aw, I'm kind of a minimalist.  Will probably get used to it, but seems too much for my taste.  The other seemed like a "just the facts" interface which I liked.

But the content on lunarforums always rocks for me, so as long as that quality remains, I'll adjust.
