I just got home, and even from here - and with a cold beer open to boot - I get that same result.

I'm telling you, I think it's personal Smile

Try this link and see if you get the same result:

http://www.google.com/search?q=%22gerry+mangar%22

I can't think of any reason why this would return anything different than the link you provided earlier, but who knows...

It's very close to the bogus results I got.  "About 129" results.  None of which contain that string.

Interesting. I get the results Rick got with the link from GMTurner. Comparing the links, there are some differences:

Code:
http://www.google.com/search?q=%22gerry+mangar%22

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22gerry+mangar%22&btnG=Google+Search
I put them in a code block for ease of reading.

In the comments section after the end of this article http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/crawl-caching-proxy/, starting about April 23, there are comments indicating that many people have noticed strange changes in Google search results during April.

Hmmm.... I get the same thing with both links, and most people should. I simply trimmed out some of the query string (language being english (h1=en) and that it was the "Google Search" button (btnG=Google+Search). The actual query (q=) is the same...

But what do you know... when I try it from home, I get 129 hits.... now I'm trying to think of differences between the setup at work and home...

Okay, I've checked settings for Firefox, googlebar, Google Preferences, etc. and can't find any difference between the two setups to explain why I get different results depending on the machine...

Some differences in the machines/setup: At work, XP Pro but XP Home at home... Connection at home is via RoadRunner but work is via university network and some customization agreements have been worked out between the Uni & Google (e.g., from work Google Scholar is included, checks our library listings and a few other things)..

If I remove the quotes, I get the same results for both (681)...

Here's a lnk to an image with a side-by-side comparison of the two results...
http://rm-news.net/lp_forum_links/googleresults.jpg

(Although I'm signed in for my persnalized home page with Google on the home machine in the screen shot, I did try it both signed in & out on both machines... it didn't make any difference on either machine...)

LOL, that was probably related to this.

My trying to help that person led to my noticing this odd google results issue.

Well, RickJ, you explained why I had weird results last week! I was doing my happy dance at work because I thought I had my site in result postition 10, which would be the first time on the first page. However when manager goes to check up on my boasting, we're in position 23, only two hours later. No more happy dance.
