Can't you speak with the company where your domain name was registered (not LP, but the company they go through to get those domains for their customers), and have your information masked in some way? I registered my domain name well before I came over to LP, but the company I used to get it provides tools for altering my information that appears in the WHOIS database.

Considering the harassment you are enduring, I can't imagine they would not work with you on this.

I see your problem now, sorry 'bout that. It is possible that your only recourse at this point would be to get a lawyer and start filing complaints with your local police about the harassment. While I don't know where you live (and it seems I'm the only person who doesn't... Just kidding Smile !), many states have rather strict anti-stalking laws. Some are downright Draconian, in fact. There is also a rising trend to include Internet harassment under these anti-stalking statutes.

So anyway, this may be your only recourse. Sorry that you have had such a bad experience with your website. Hopefully it will improve soon.

Hi,

I understand how frightening this could be.  I recently switched some of my domains to proxy to mask information.  I will note that it only costs about $10 to proxy a domain, so if you only have 2-3 that $20-30 a year to stop this from happening seems like it would be well worth it.  I would do it on all my domains, but I own 25 and that is a bit steep currently for me as well.  You could always pick the primary domain that has the most problems and do it first to see how it works for you. Anyway, just a suggestion.

I hope this information is helpful.

the other hosting company.com has the proxied domains. I am thinking of doing that for the domain with my last name. I do not want to do that with my business becuase i want people to feel better about buying from me.

Yeah, definitely. It freaked me out for the first domain name i ever bought back in 1998 and I am still unsure about it.

I've decided not to go through proxied domain names because my websites now are all business related, and I wouldnt really care at all if people contacted me, it would most likely mean business.

But : for most people it helps even more in stealing identities when the full names, adresses, phone numbers ... are available on a click of a button (and yes, Bush is a moron, his name appears as the whole definition of the word in my dictionnary)
And those bloody internet stalkers ... Danielle stop following me around!

You could get a PO Box and use that for your registration.

A phone book has full names, addresses, & phone numbers but I wouldn't think we should get rid of them online or otherwise.
