Hello,

I have set up one of my folders to be password protected via cPanel. All seemed to be working well, I was asked to login when I went to site. (At first it did not work but after a few minutes it did. I guess that might just have been lag-time problem) Anyway, it asked me to login, which I did. Still all was fine, it took me to my protected site.

But here is the problem, when I leave and go back to the site it just lets me in (No Password Needed, Nothing). I thought it might be finding the site in my cache, so I emptied it but I still could go right in.

Next I when back into Dreamweaver and altered the content of the site to check if I was viewing a cache somehow. I uploaded it and when I went back to go to the site it let me in (No Password Needed) and I was veiwing the new altered site. This told me that I am not veiwing the site by way of my cache.

Next I went back into cPanal and changed my password, when I went to veiw the site it then asked me for my password. I put the new password in and I was taken to the site but when exited and tried to go back in, all of the above happened again. (No Password needed, etc.)

Somehow something seems to be remembering my password or something. Is there something I must do in cPanel to log a user out when they leave? I couldn't fine anything about this anywhere. I have looked at many posts and how tos here in Lunarforms and have found nothing on this logout issue, so I thought I would ask for some help.

I should note that I did not check-off the box that asks you to remember your password when you login, so that should not be what is causing this.

I really would like to make sure that you need to login everytime.(If the user chooses to check-off the remember password box, that's up to them, but it shouldn't just let you enter if you didn't check the box either)

Am I missing a simple step here or something?

Thank you for any help on this matter.

Hello again, I'm sorry, I guess I should have posted this in a different forum topic (not Chat & Stuff!). I'm new to this posting thing. I will do better next time. Hope someone finds this post here.

Thank you,

I believe if you close your browser completely, and then re-open it and go to the folder, it will prompt you for your password again. But if you just go to a different site and then come back, the password will be unnecessary.

Thank you mussavcom, for the info.

I did what you said (Closed my browser completely) and it did ask for the password. So it seems to be working okay, just not the way I had expected it to work.

So all is well.

Thank you again,

I know but this is not so related to the topic, but as far as it is about the passwords, I would like to say that it is important to know that the strong passwords are the random ones. Long, random with different symbols, letters and numbers are the best passwords. You can use some password generator online. And it will create for you a lot of strong passwords.. I wish you success.

I just don't want to bother you with the visible links, just because I think it will be like ad. I don't want to make ads, just to have some links. I got the point. I am not going to post like this again. Best wishes to you and to this nice place!  Hug
