Just had a sandwich. It was American cheese. Do other countries have American cheese? We have Swiss cheese.

Is there a mouse in the house? Very important question! Enquiring minds want to know.  Very Happy

LOL, I was thinking about that the other day. I went to Subway, and was wondering whether people also call our cheese American or what? To me it tastes all the same, but I don't know.

I've lived in both Canada and the US, so I'm obviously an authorative speaker on this subject.  Wink

In Canada, we call it processed cheese.  The Kraft "American cheese" singles you get at the grocery store are labelled as "Kraft Singles" and in tiny text it says "processed cheese product."  Also, we call Canadian bacon "back bacon" and trucks are called "lifts."

Yeh we have Kraft cheese here Razz
(I use the slices on burgers)

Mainly though we stick to our own, like cheshire cheese/Lancashire cheese etc.
The supermarkets are full of Dutch, French, Belgian, Swiss stuff as well though.

Nicest I ever had was Wenslydale cheese, though some of the Welsh stuff in nice Smile
Stilton is horrid,

Some people even have cheese and wine parties, so I suppose they have American cheese there.

Haha Smile So true..

for those of you that don't know what it looks like, take a slab of flexible rubber, sneeze on it and shellac it. Then colour it orange. Voila - processed cheese. (Don't forget to make it slimy!)
