It is such a cool thing I put it in my prof as my home page heheh. Wonder what www.altavista.com looked like in 1996? disney.com? A good website that is no longer around? http://www.archive.org/ Go back in time.

I have always thought the Wayback machine is a neat idea, so I won't start a debate based on how many people at places like Webmaster World feel about the spider (ia archiver I believe it is called) and find it to be a nuisance as it constantly spiders sites/increases bandwidth. I did, however, want to note it for the record, since people might see that spider in their raw access logs.

You can block it apparantly... for example, try http://neopets.com .

Yes, people do block it, and that was one of the debates on WW about it. I choose not to block the spider b/c I have plenty of bandwidth (I'd never even use 40 GB let alone what I have), and I also like the idea of a historical record of the internet if only for curiosity's sake.

Damn. I had almost forgotten old school Lunarforums Yeah, the wayback machine is just great. I'd never block my sites for it... It's always nice to have proof of your earlier works. Just for nostalgia's sake
