~You're Invited~

to the
Second Attempt
to
Break the Record of the Number of Users on the Lunarpages Forums at the Same Time!

Friday, January 23, 2004: 4:00 P.M. -- 6:00 P.M. EST
(I believe that's 1-3 PM PST.)

Don't RSVP, just come. If you can't come, shame on you! Out of thousands of members, only 6 came the first time. The rest of you can still redeem yourselves!
*cough*leigh*cough*Garvey-tinz*cough*Jay*cough*

This is way in advance, so don't say you didn't know!

The current record is 29 on April 6, 2003.

That's right... all you people who didn't come to the 1st (feeble) attempt, this is your chance to redeem yourselves!

My question is: why did you pick January 23? Does that day have some significance that I'm not aware of?

You tried well. I'm guessing, though, that you came home to a shattered Jacuzzi, because it sure didn't stay on the F5 key.  Razz

are we supposed to be here the entire time? you should give a specific time so we can get the most people at once.

I think that having a time frame is better, though, b/c then you can slowly get more people to gather.  Since a person can just log in and leave their computer, I am not certain why it would be difficult for people to login anytime during that time frame and (so long as the people who were there before stay logged in) why the numbers wouldn't keep increasing.  Of course, I am logged in almost continuously, so maybe that is why I am having difficulty understanding how it is a problem. lol

Oh pooh! Next time, I'll have someone create a PHP script that auto presses the F5 key.

After five minutes without request, wouldn't it then not be logged in?

Also, don't forget the time zones, so what 5:00 are you zoning in so everyone can adjust accordingly?

*edited - Oops, okay I read mussavcom's first post again and see the time zone.

Mine never logs me out regardless of inactivity unless I choose to log out.  Otherwise, if you truly believe I don't sleep and am here 24 hours a day (b/c I would like you to tell me a time you haven't seen me listed as one of the people on the forum), you might be right...I am trying to catch up with Stephan eventually after all (4,053 posts).

Really, though, if you have auto login selected and don't have a default time that you would be logged off, you are never logged off.

Doesn't the "Who Is Online" part determine the total number of people, though? That is where the count comes from for determing if you go over the previous number or not...what am I not understanding here?
