"potentially unsafe operation problem" with my fla
« on: November 24, 2004, 10:01:21 AM »
Whenever i open http://www.site2remember.com it says
Quote
site2remember.com tries to read from www.site2remember.com This is a potentially unsafe operation
and then it asks me if i will alow it or not. Ofcourse when i say yes the eroor message dissapears but why do i get it in the first place and how can i avoid it. I think the problem lays within the fact that site2remember.com is an add-on domain for my main domain www.free-goods.com and somehow it needs permission to read its flashfile... anyone any ideas how to solve this? thanks :?

you need to tick the box that says 'dont show this message again'

this is your antivirus or firewall being security concious, thats all :thumb:

Sure it has to do with the firewall/virus protection and not Macromedia being security concious?

its not a zonealarm popup, its a flash popup from flash itself.. I got the popup on 3 of my computers and only one has zonealarm installed, other 2 computers dont even have a firewall

I didn't get the message in FF or IE. I'm running ZoneAlarm but it's the free version.

Maybe it's not an addon domain thing rather than a 'www' thing. Notice the message differentiates site2remember.com and www.site2remember.com.  Your code refers to http://site2remember.com/07company_2.swf but the URL you use is http://www.site2remember.com. See what happens when you go from http://site2remember.com

can you post the code?

maybe a link somewhere that has http://www.domain.com could be changed to http://domain.com so it doesnt think it's reading from another site.

Well, you should still see if it's the issue Garvey and I pointed out regarding your code. Otherwise, people with setups like yours will get the error message, too.

Garvey, I still think it's Macromedia because I get this popup thing once in a while on my older system (Which doesn't have Zone Alarm). I don't get it on this system because I told Flash not to popup me to me about such stuff.

Also if anyone wants to modify the Flash Player Privacy settings and such, visit http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager02.html
