OK....did something change?

I have a basic web package on the server Aquarious that I use for my website and for testing purposes. I built a website for someone using Joomla and a e-newsletter package called Acajoom. The test website had a newsletter with 650 subscribers which we used during preliminary testing. Everything worked fine.

Finally set up the final website for the organization I am affiliated with on their own package on Eventide. The website and software are exactly the same except this is a minimal store for accepting credit card payments from members for dues. This is a small business plan as opposed to a basic webpage. The server is Eventide.

I never got the max emails message on the previous server, but 250 bouncebacks when sending an e-newsletter on the organization site.

In both cases, acajoom is set up to use PhpMailer

I would suggest figuring out a way to send those e-mails in smaller packages out - the shared hosting servers have a limit of 300-400 e-mails per hour and 20 per minute.  Both PHPList and DadaMail have ways to spread the sending out over a long period of time, so you don't reach the hard limits of the server.

As for the cause, you can thank spammers from around the world.  They have really lead to every web host out there having to limit the number of e-mails that can be sent like this.   :whip:

Hope that helps some. :)

Easy for you to say. Knowing that in advance would have helped.

I can set up different lists, or I can set up the script to send 300 and wait 3600 seconds before sending the next 300--but now I have to go through 250 email and figure out which ones went and which ones didn't and create a new list based on the 250 bouncebacks I got

Not really the way I wanted to spend my afternoon.

When did this change? It has to have been on the last two months...maybe three? Or is my other server not configured properly? I guess that is a heads up for you to check.

Has always been the case - chances are you never hit the hard limit before.

No, that's not the case. I directly imported the newsletter database from the other server. That server send them all the last time I used it for a test run within the last two-three months. Maybe we added 10 or somore, but there were 600 + emails in there.

I assure, I would know if I got 200 bounce backs to my email.

I really didn't want to go this route but I needed something simple and customizeable for the other people in the office.

Well there has been a limit one one way, shape or form since I have been here, which is Sept. 2006.  (Might PM MrPhil, as he can vouch for this - or search the forums here)  I think it was around a year ago, we dropped the e-mail sending limit from 500 - 600 down to 300 - 400, to lessen the chances of a server being blacklisted due to spam issues.  The main thing to remember here is, is that no ISP likes to get e-mails that quickly, looks suspicious, even if you do have a perfectly reasonable excuse for it.
