I have this flash intro on my index.html page. It's just a small(-ish) falsh 8 .swf file made with Xara

When I open the page from my hard drive, it all works like it should.
But after I uploaded everything in the public html folder, the page shows without the flash - it only has a white box instead of the flash.
I can see the .swf file there in my folder when I use the ftp software, but it just doesn't run.
Am I supposed to put the flash in a separate folder? Is there some permission or something that needs to be set from the control panel?

Thanks.

EDITED - I just checked - it shows in Internet Explorer, but not in Firefox or Netscape. Although locally it works in all 3 browsers. Confused  Sad

Do you have a link?  Might be able to troubleshoot if we see it in action (or not in action, that is)...

Hey,

I think there is something wrong with the coding.. especially where you set the link for the flash file

your code says the file is located at /introWW.swf but I dont see anything here  http://www.pngworldwide.com/introWW.swf

Edit : After searching this on some other forums, I found that the issue may get resolved when you put the full url in the embed code Smile

Hey,

I think the problem is, your Flash file name is not "introWW.swf" -- it's "IntroWW.swf".  Not sure why it worked in IE, but I think if you change it to a capital "I" it should work in all of the browsers.  In Windows, case doesn't matter (which might explain why it works on your local machine), but in Linux (which is probably what your hosting plan is on), case DOES matter, which might explain why it didn't work on the server.

Anyway, try changing the file name... hopefully that does it.

Yep,

You are right.. http://www.pngworldwide.com/IntroWW.swf does load.... Smile so either rename it or change the code .. Linux servers are case sensitive

Thanks! It works!

I never thought about the case - HTML is not supposed to be case sensitive, but you're right, it wasn't the HTML, it was the Linux server that had a problem with my spelling.

Now I'm back in business  Soooo Cool

I'm having the same problem. The flash created with CoffeeCup Fire Starter works on my local machine but on the web I get a white box. The sound plays and teh image appears at the end, but the rest is a white box with no text. Can anybody help?

The site is www.billzebub.net/test/index1.html
and
www.billzebub.net/test/index2.html

I appreciate any help you can give me.

I checked on my laptop down stairs which is running vista and they work there. They still aren't working on my XP machine. I'll have others check and go over my security settings.
