I built a flash intro, and I read that all I had to do was upload the intro.swf, its music.swf, and the lines.txt that insert the text I want on the intro, all in the same folder.
So, inside my www folder in the files manager, I made a folder called "adventure," with "adventure" also being the name of the intro. Then, inside that folder I uploaded the intro, music and lines.
But when I went to my site, I saw the site as it usually is, without the intro.

I did more reading and saw that you would rename your site index.htm as something else, like main.htm and then the intro will be the first thing that appears on the site. Well, I did that and all that happened was that my site opened as it usually does- but without the navigation bar!  Confused
I renamed main.htm back to index.htm and the problem still wasn't fixed. So I deleted the file and then uploaded it again in its original form. This brought me back my navigation bar, but of course, no flash intro.

So, how and where exactly do I upload the flash intro? If you can help, I'd really appreciate it.
        Thanks,

If you want the flash movie to play first, you need to put it in an html filed called index.html or index.htm. And yes, you would need to rename the original index file to something else.

You can include whatever text you want on the html page. It sounds like what you want is text to display that is not part of the swf file. Is that right?

You'll also need a button to open the old index page when the flash movie has completed from within the swf file or a html link to do the same thing.

If you wanted the flash movie to open first from the adventure folder, the url would be:
...http://www.yourdomain.com/adventure... but it would still need to be in a file called index or users would be browsing the adventure directory. Then you would need a link to your index file at ...http://www.yourdomain.com...

Thx, I have the link  to my site in the intro set up, but how come when I rename my site index,  the nav bar disappears? I have the site set up in frames, with the nav being nav.htm

And, do you mean that instead of putting the intro in a folder called "adventure" in my www folder, I should just upload the files into www without a subfolder?
         Thanks,

Yea, just put the files into the main web folder where your original index file is.

Sorry, not sure about the navbar.

Thanks- I put the files in www without a subfolder and now the flash is the first thing you see when you go to the site.

Unfortunately, it keeps looping, even when you press "Enter Site," which I had linked to the actual site. It plays over and over and I can't actually enter  Confused

Please, what do you advise?

Thanks so much, Philvis. Sorry to double post, but now I went in and changed the link in the intro to mysite.com/index2.html because I had renamed the site index to "index2" in order to make the flash appear as the first thing. But now, when I press "enter site," the page directs to a "page not found" message.

EDIT: I deleted the whole file "index2" and uploaded it again and now everything works fine (dunno why that worked) .....except one thing  Sad
If you wait for the intro to finish and press "Enter Site," things are great. But if you press "Skip Intro," then the intro perpetually loops.  Confused
             Please, what do you advise?
                     Thanks,

Sounds like the Skip Intro link points to the page the Flash movie is on. Check to see that it is the same as the Enter Site link.
