Hi helpful people,

I'm having a problem with my domain automatically redirecting to my main domain instead of the address pointing to the index.html file it should be.

I recently purchased a domain, websiteB.com, and added it to my main LP account, which was websiteA.com. I configured the nameserver redirects correctly, and accessing files by name like "http://websiteB.com/picture1.jpg" would display the correct information, but whenever I type in websiteB.com, it automatically redirects to the homepage of websiteA.com.

I looked for any settings in LPCP that may have led to this erroneous behavior, but I can't seem to find anything that stands out. What are the various settings I should check to make sure websiteB.com doesn't automatically redirect to websiteA.com?

Thanks so much for your advice,

Will

What exactly do you mean by "I configured the nameserver redirects correctly"? Your registrar entry for WebsiteB should simply point to the same LP nameservers as your WebsiteA does. There is no redirection involved.

What's in your WebsiteA root .htaccess file? Is it doing any redirection or URL rewriting? Particularly if you have an application already running on WebsiteA with "SEO" or "SEF" URLs, it may be doing redirection at that point. Can you show the .htaccess file, after obscuring any account names or other sensitive information? Since giving a specific file on WebsiteB seems to work OK, I suspect that's your problem.

Did you set the new domain in your control panel as a parked domain or an addon domain?

If set as parked, it will go to the main domain.

If set as addon, it will have its own files/folder and you should not need a redirect, unless by redirect you are referring to the nameservers.

If you can't resolve the issue, you may need to contact support so we can take a look at the sites directly.
