I created a subdomain and I'm not too familiar with how these things work, but is it normal to be able to access the site by either typing in subdomain.domain.com and domain.com/subdomain? I installed SMF (simple machines forum) and it loads fine by typing in the URL either way.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Yes, you can access a subdomain either way (but the whole point of defining a subdomain is to look like an independent site). The subdomain lives in a folder under the root (/home/ACCOUNT/public_html/subdomain/).

SMF should be happy either way. I presume in Settings.php you have subdomain.domain.com as the boardURL?
