This is probably something incredibly simple, but when I do a backup via FTP and it sends me an email saying it's complete, what do I do then?
There's not anything (that I can see) in the mail that states where I then go get the backup, or access it. I've taken a look through the files in cpanel to see if maybe my backup gets sent there when it's complete.
My sites getting big enough that downloading it right to my computer takes a really long time (+1000MB), so I'd like to be able to move it via FTP.
Is there a step I'm missing, or something I'm doing wrong?
I use FireFTP, if that helps Smile
Thanks in advance
Elaine:)

Backups in Cpanel get placed under your root folder which is above public_html and the first thing you see when you go into Cpanel File Manager.

 Hug thanks!
that's under the generate/download a full backup. I would have to have an administrator upload that for me?
(or am I the administrator, meaning I wouldn't have to get a Lunar Pages guru to do it for me?)
Thanks for the very quick reply!

That message you see is actually in error. You can extract the file on the server or you can download and extract it on your computer with the right software. To extract it on the server, click on the backup file name and then choose Extract File in the menu on the upper right. It will send it to a subfolder by the same name in the same folder you are in (root). Once it is extracted, you can copy over what you need to the right folder. In File Manager, you would use the folder icons to navigate into folders and click on the name of the final folder where you want to copy the file. If you are restoring all of public_html, it may be easier for us to do it for you since we have access to shell and can do it with one command.

 Bouncin for Joy
now that's wonderful news, because downloading those backups by ftp is a heck of a lot easier (an hour or so as opposed to the 7 hours it once took me )
Thank you so much for clearing that up for me. I had extracted a file before while doing a mod. I just didn't know if I could do the same with those backups. That's a load off my mind!
