Thanks so much. You know, that link was to the same question I had way back in 2005. I did it the hard way, not the "easy work around" way suggested. I just really thought there might be, in 6 years times, an easier way to do this by now. I think I did it by downloading the raw logs, running it through a webalizer program on my computer then uploaded the results. I didn't do anything automatically, but I would like to. I haven't needed my ftp program in so long, I don't know if I even have it. I would want to use a free one though.
This is what was said that I did not do:
Here's another workaround - designed to automate the copying of webalizer into a public folder:
(after beating my head against the wall - trying it the other way)
1. Create a directory in public-html (pw protect if you need to)
2. Use an automatic FTP program (like ws-ftp) to bring down the webalizer files to a local server or machine (ws-ftp queue scripts the download of the webalizer directory 1 time a week or whatever)
3. Upload those files in step 2 to the public folder (step 1) automatically (ws-ftp queue scripts the upload of the local directory 1 time a week or whatever )
This gives you the ability to offer a password protected stats page, does not give out any host info (all links work relative to the index page and directory in step 1), and makes you look great to your clients. Plus you don't have to do anything after the setup, except maybe charge a nominal fee!
Still, even this is confusing. Would I automatically queue the raw logs to this folder? How would it then give me the report? Sorry I'm so dense about this. I haven't ever set up anything to be done automatically. And I am not certain specifically which files he is referring to. Can you clarify this even more for me.... the "Web stats for dummies" version. I sure would appreciate it.
