Hi all,
I'm really new to the website thing... I used to have my site hosted on Tripod. They had in their annoying banner ad a feature that if you wanted to be updated by email when the site updated.  This is a family site and updates are not as constant as I would like so how can I add something like this so people are informed when the site is updated??

PS I'm using Frontpage as my editor...  Thanks!

Hi Wayne,

I'm not sure if I understand exactly what you mean, but a lot of sites commonly have in small text at the bottom of their main page or somewhere on their main page, "Site last updated (date inserted)".

Is this what you mean?  Some kinda message that indicates the last site update?

I think he's looking for a script that will notify his members, by email, when there have been changes or updates to his site.

As for emailing vistors to your site. I don't see that as being possible because you would first need an email address, which you wont get from vistors to your site, so I assume that you did mean members, or people that sign up for some type of news letter.

You should be able to find some sort of script, be it php or perl, to work for you. Try a google search, or try here.

Thanks for the replies...  I was looking for a script that people good sign up (like a member) to recieve and email when the site is updated.  I will check out the scripts that you have indicated above.  Thanks again...

Ok, so a new subquestion...  I didn't find the exact thing I was looking for but I did find some scripts for a guestbook that might be a nice addition to the site.  I'm using front page and I have no idea how to add PHP scripts to the pages.  I did a search on PHP in frontpage and there is no information.  Any ideas??
