I'm all set with Lunar Pages, but I still need to tranfer my domain name. I couldn't find a domain management link at my current host's site, so I contacted them (100megswebhosting.com). They told me I had purchased the plan from a reseller and I have to ask him for the information. I don't want to wait forever for all these people to get back to me (and I'm sure they'll take their time, since they're losing my business). Is there another way to get there and just change it? Thank you in advance for any help you can give me on this.

I'm 99.9999% sure I just replied to this!
Maybe I closed the page by mistake.
Anyway, unfortunately, you need to contact the people the domain is registered with.
Lunarpages doesn't have permission to -take- the domain off the other server and onto the lunarpages ones.
I suggest that you get the page ready on lunarpages on the temporary sub-domain address you have at the moment. (username.lunarpages.com)
and login to your old host, and make a page that redirects to the new site, that will save you the trouble of losing customers while you make the changes to the domain setup.
Your domain seems to be registered with "INTERCOSMOS MEDIA GROUP, INC. D/B/A DIRECTNIC.COM"
You need to contact them.

You can actually keep the domain registered with directnic.com and ask them to use the lunarpages nameservers (available on the FAQ pages) Alternatively, you can ask to transfer the domain to lunarpages completely. For co.uk domains at least, this has to be done in writing. I hope that helps a bit. If you need more help, write back here, or e-mail support@lunarpages.com

Thank you! I contacted directnic.com to see if the'll just point it at the new name servers (hopefully I said that right!) I'm uploading everything so I can redirect, but with 500 or so pages, I won't be able to do that completely. Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly.

Excellent. That's exactly what I meant for you to do.
No problem by the way!

Well, it's even more complicated now. Since my e-mail address changed since I registered the domain, I can't give myself permission to change the name servers! I have to fax a notarized form to directnic.com transferring the domain from myself to myself, pay them $15, wait 10 days, bla, bla, bla. Those people are crazy.
Anyway, I'm redirecting my entire site in the meantime. If I redirect it for more than a few days, will it effect my Google ranking? If I lost my status with them, I'd be done. Do you know what the crawler does when it hits a redirected page?
Thanks!

What a pain!
Can't you get the old e-mail address back again? It might be easier!
As for the search engine issue, it would be a good idea to ask the question in the search engine part of this site, because the people who read it really know what they are on about, especially Lee.
She is definately the expert on stuff like this.
Search engines go round the internet all the time, the chances are that it would probably not come across your page while it was being changed, but you never know.
Redirected pages are sometimes treated suspiciously because some people use them to make hundreds of fake entry pages for their site.
Perhaps you could use a robots.txt file to exclude it for a while, then again that might actually remove your listing! Yes, in fact, I am sure it would.
hmm! (thinking....)
Yes, ask again in the search engines section!

Thanks, but it seems to have sorted itself out anyway! Phew, thought I might actually have to *think* about that one. Go lunarpages.

DNS servers normally take a long time to update.
72 hours is not unusual, it's because the changes have to spread all over the internet.
