I understand that Lunar does things a little different from hosts I have used before. When working with other Hosts I registered Domain Names, Changed DNS etc. Once I recieved my username and password to log onto the server I was also instantly given an IP address to use while a site was in development.

This was nice because I could also send the link to clients so they could review progress until it went "Live". What is the deal here? I have tried a multitude of directory /// and can't seem to find a simple solution. I know you do things different and hopefully "Pass the savings onto the customer"  I have been reading the manual and it will atke a little getting use to, its just I don't have much spare time.  "[Wink]"

When you gonna add spell check to this thing?  "[biggrin]"

Hello Amy

Yes, I am using the link Lunar has sent us. I have also used the lunar FTP program built into the control panel. I uploaded a very basic site and an index.html page (even used the L instead of htm which I have seen cuase problems in the past on cheap servers) I cannot see it from the web. It sits in my [public_html] and I have set permissions to 644 on the folder itself.
I still see nothing in ie using the Galaxy URL with and without the \index.html . I have cleared the browser etc.

I'm sorry It has never been this hard to get an default online. I am open to suggestions and I am in a crunch.
Am I missing the boat here?

set the permissions for the public_html folder to 755.  while you're at it, you might as well set the permissions to the index.html file to 755 also.

Hi Buddy,

Your index file may be in your root directory.  Tell me your username and I'll go have a peek  "[Smile]"

Ok Buddy PMed me and we have sorted this out.

His index file was in the root directory.  Common mistake.  It has to be uploaded to your public_html folder  "[Smile]"

That is where is has been
I moved it to see if that was the problem and redirected the links.

I am putting it back into the public folder again since I have to reupload everything anyway.

I put everything back to where it was originally since I had it saved and just reopened and uploaded. Now I see it.
Something weird here, might be me.

OK now how about some FTP settings for Dreamweaver MX.

Ok maybe the permissions were wrong?  I chmod public_html to 777

Ok well..

hostname: galaxy.lunarpages.com

Username:  your username

Password:  your password

Is this what you mean?  The folder to upload to is public_html

Besides the basis DW asks for a [ host directory ] which tosses me a little. I am going to try combinations of the public folder.
Could be this whole permissions thing as you said. I have never had to deal with that before. After I work with it maybe I will get use to it.

I was attracted to your service partly because of the secrued folder option among other things. I will set permissions to 755 and dive into the DWMX FTP battle again to see if I make any headway.

Thank you for being so responsive. I am running this whole thing through the mill and reporting back to my partners so hang in there.

Now to see how this system deals with Quicktime Mpeg and Flash.

I use Dreamweaver to design and ftp to upload.  WS_FTP actually.

Just keep asking us questions and we'll help you through  "[Smile]"

I have MX but haven't installed it yet.

host directory would be:  /public_html/

ftp host:  galaxy.lunarpages.com

This will see your files dropped into the public_html directory.  MX should not change your permissions unless you specifically make the chmod change yourself.
