I've e-mailed support about this but I thought I'd ask here too... I have three accounts for my domain www.ionadfilms.com.I can received e-mail for all three accounts using Outlook Express at mail.ionadfilms.com But I can not send. I get the following message: ******************************************* Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'IonadFilms - Ben', Server: 'mail.ionadfilms.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F ******************************************** I used the Outlook (express) Autoconfig funtion in C-Panel for all three accounts... All the account settings seem to be correct in outlook. "My server requires authentication" is checked. "Secure Passward Authentication" is not checked. Any ideas? Thanks. Hi Ben,
I see Chris answered your ticket. Did his suggestion work for you?

ok, check that "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" is not ticked,
after that, next to "My server requires authentication" (which should be ticked), click "settings".
Click "use the same settings as my incoming mail server"
If that doesn't work, please get back to us.

Every thing is set up the way you said Stephan. But I'm still getting the same error.

PS. I LOVE the phpbb that you suggested in another topic.... Super Thanks! [ March 09, 2003, 12:29 PM: Message edited by: ionad ]

The problem is definately in the setup of Outlook express.
The error message mentions "SSL", which is to do with security.
I am sure, that somewhere, in the e-mail settings, there is a box ticked which shouldn't be.
The mail servers don't use secure password authentication.
My advice is to go back and doublecheck the settings.
If you can't do it, I would delete the account, then create one manually, with the correct settings.

I have another solution.
In the properties of your e-mail account,
click on "Advanced"
Make sure that the first two boxes on that page are not ticked.

Okay... I am totally stumped... I'm sure that there is something very simple right in front of me that I'm missing... but I've double, triple, and quadruple checked all my settings in Outlook Express. I've deleted the account settings and re-entered them my hand and still the same problem. I can not send e-mail using using outlook express. *********** Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. I still haven't heard back from support (though I suppose it could be an e-mail issue) I'll try giving them a call in the next few hours or so. Thanks

I had that problem too. I fixed it by unchecking My Server Requires Authentication. I also have Log on using Secure Password Authentication unchecked.
I know it's not supposed to work that way, but it does for me.

I wish I had a solution, but all I have is the same issue...tried everything posted and still cannot send from Outlook Express.
So I was wondering...since I'm hosted on the (new) Europa server, could it be something there, or are you on a different server?

Dave - I tried some of your suggestions... still no luck.
Rod - I'm on Mercury. I've tried using mercury.lunarpages.com (rather than mail.ionadfilms.com) and still get the same result....
I'm still totally stumped.

Okay... I've been e-mailing with Lee from support and it looks like it's probably my ISP... I have been sort of suspecting this... I called Earthlink and they said that because I wasn't connecting using the Lunar network I might have problems... but that I could be using the Earthlink mail severs to send all my outgoing e-mail anyway...
So... problem not exactly solved, but another acceptable solution was found.
Thanks to Lee and everyone else for your help and suggestions.

Ben--
My ISP is subpar, to say the least, so that may indeed be the issue....I won't have my cable modem in for a month or so, so for now I'll just try to mail directly from the Lunarpages webmail system. (Although I mailed directly from there yesterday and the message was never received...)but I'll keep trying and post back once I've found the solution.
Have a great one.

Okay... it's definately my ISP. I went to a coffe shop that offers a DSL connection... logged and and was able to send mail using mail.ionadfilms.com with no problems at all.
So it's all about the crappy ISP.
Thanks again everyone.
Ben
