This is something I've never needed to do before, but I want to upload an unfinished website for testing, and keep it private until both the site and the testing are complete.

The CPanel instructions for password-protecting a site look clear enough, and the procedure is easy. But in the instructions for removing password protection (as I expect to do when the site is ready for prime time), I see this:

Remove password protection on a directory when you no longer want other users to have access to that directory.

This sounds like I'm turning it into an extremely private site rather than opening it to the public. That wouldn't be what I want. Is it possible that users in that sentence means "people I've specifically given access to the site," rather than "every Web surfer in the universe (except, of course, myself)"?
