Hey folks,      Help

I'm lookin in to learning more about PHP to be able to develop some upcoming projects.

I can't seem to find a php ini or htaccess file anywhere in my LPCP.

I doubt I would have deleted them, but I suppose most anythings' possible.

Should I go to the php net site, download the corresponding php, for this server / OS type, and php version, then bring the ini file up out of that?  Where would I find a htaccess file to go with it?

I've spent a couple days looking through here, the php net and w3schools sites, but I'm still a bit lost.  Confused

Thanks in advance.  Smile

See http://www.catskilltech.com/freeSW/SMF/faqs/index.html#phpinfo for a general discussion on setting PHP parameters. No, you would not just grab a php.ini file from some random place -- you need to know what the current settings are and what you want to change.

Usually there isn't initially a php.ini file -- you need to create it. Usually there is an .htaccess file in the site root. You probably overlooked it.

Great.   Thanks, Mr.Phill

I'll dive more headily in to that site tomorrow, looks very helpfull so far.

I Haven't found a .htaccess file anywhere in my root, or sub directories, anywhere though.

Would it be possible for someone to put up or send / copy & paste a virgin copy?

With cPanel, there is always an .htaccess file, even if it's empty. Maybe LPCP doesn't need one at all (if it's empty)? If your site is running OK, without one somewhere, just go ahead and create a new one if you need it. Or perform some control panel function (LPCP) that creates an .htaccess file to hold a command. As with php.ini, you don't want to just grab a random file from some place and use that. You need to understand everything that's in it -- there's no such thing as a "virgin copy", because everyone needs it set up to suit their specific needs.
