How do I set up my site so that when a user types www.mysite.com into the address bar it points to www.mysite.com/index.asp instead of www.mysite.com/index.html?

You would need to edit the .htaccess file inside the same folder where index.asp is and insert the following line:

DirectoryIndex index.asp
