lets say someone types in http://www.yousite.com/folder/ in there browser. they are brought to the directory folder that shows everything in their.  how do i make it so that if some were to type that in they would get something like "access denied"

you can make an index page (index.html) that says "access denied" and place that page in the folder.

or use a .htaccess file.

Look up htaccess on google.com for more information.

Or you could use the Index Manager in the Cpanel.  This just automates the process of creating the proper .htaccess files.
