Am looking to switch hosting companies -- looking for a more end-user friendly host than what I now have. Currently have 2 seperate domains ( www.laurelhillcreations.com & www.familylifecare.com) and one has nothing to do with the other. Number 1 question is can I host both domains on one account and have them receive email? Looked at your Control Panel and could not find "myPHPadmin" which I need for the shopping cart I am changing to (uses PHP4.0 or higher & mySQL3.23 or higher). My online catalog (laurelhillcreations.com) will begin to have subdomains during the summer and I like what you have there. Until that gets under way, we have a host of www.laurelhillcreations.com/1/theirname.htm is that a problem? And lastly, do you have a mail manager to help support newsletters? I know just enough to be dangerous to myself -- that's why I'm posting in the beginner's section. Thanks from warm and sunny Florida, Patsy

The answers are all YES. The CPanel does have phpMyAdmin for MySQL databases. The versions are regularly updated as new versions come out. There's also ASP and JSP support. There is the mailman list server which I think is excellent. You can host two domains on one account, though I believe it is $2.50/month for an add-on (not parked) domain. Take a look at http://www.lunarpages.com/faq.html. You're welcome from hot and humid Ft Lauderdale [ March 31, 2003, 05:32 PM: Message edited by: TWebMan ]

Thanks for your fast response and I am thrilled to learn all my questions have a positive answer. Now the only thing left to ask is..... do you know the downtime to transfer my website from it's current host to Lunar and how is this done (what do I need to do on my part -- other than sign up)? Gonna be a great day in Jacksonville, Patsy !["" "[color]"]("graemlins/color.gif")

You need to sign up, then change your domain's nameservers to the lunarpages ones listed on the FAQ of www.lunarpages.comKeep your old site running, but disable all content which changes, such as message forums, guestbooks etc. Upload your site to lunarpages. Slowly, over 24 to 72 hours, DNS servers across the internet will update and point your domain to the lunarpages servers.

Sign up with your major domain (Pick one).. then move the second domain to that account as well after you sign up with the first one. Basically the one you sign up with determines your username - Ed !["" "[Smile]"]("smile.gif")

You can host multiple domains under one account. You would have one primary domain name then add on the others.
A parked domain is an additional domain that points to main directory of your account. You can park up to 3 domains at no cost. Parked domains have their own email addresses. Standard account owners can have a total of 9 parked domains and premium account owners can have up to 27 parked domains. Parked domains are added through C-Panel, choose the menu option "Parked Domains"
An add-on domain is an additional domain that points towards it's own directory. The cost of an add-on domain is $2.50 a month, per domain (charged in a lump sum for the entire hosting contract). Add-on domains have their own email addresses. Standard account owners can have up to 3 add-on domains. Premium account owners can have up to 5 add-on domains.
Once enabled by us, add on domains are added through C-Panel, choose the menu option "Addon Domains".

Thank you so much for the breakdown explanation -- it helped a lot. Correct me if I am wrong (and this is the last before I sign up)..... I need to sign up, upload my complete website to LunarPages, leave the website in full (with exception of pointers) on it's current host, redirect my website via the place I purchased the domain and wait for all to work. Then delete my wesbite from the old host and drop account. After all is done sign up (or add on) the second domain account and repeat.
With the standard account, can you have more than 1 SQL database? My online catalog will use the 1 coming with the standard and I would also like to have a forum.
Thanks for all your help,
Patsy

The answer to the first paragraph is yes. The second is, you can buy an extra database for $1 per database per month (paid annually) Good luck !["" "[Smile]"]("smile.gif")

I am so excited about moving my website over. Plan to sign up this week-end and upload my pages. Last question before signing up -- after I sign up do I get some sort of instructions (that I can print out) on EXACTLY what I need to do to transfer my domain and upload my pictures.

When you sign up, you'll get an e-mail with your account information, and how to upload. You need to print that out and take care of it. I don't know if the e-mail gives instructions on how to transfer your domain, I can't remember. Basically though, you need to contact the company that registered your domain, and ask them to either release the domain to be transferred to lunarpages, or to change the nameservers to the lunarpages ones, listed on www.lunarpages.com on the FAQ page. If you have any problems, just write back here, or e-mail support@lunarpages, 24 hours a day.
