Hey all-

So what folder am I supposed to put the smf download into?  No matter what I put, it says 'invalid directory' unless I choose the root directory, but then I can't find it.  I wanted something like abc.com/forum.  Thanks.

If you are installing manually you need to make sure that you create the folder you want to use on your account in your control panel or an FTP client. Then uploaded the files to that directory.

Thanks michael-

I'm not sure what you mean by 'manually' - I'm using whatever the thing is that took the place of Fantastico (how's that for a techie explanation?).  With the old CP when I clicked to download SMF from Fantastico, a box popped up and all I had to do was put in /forum and the correct directory (abc.com/forum) magically appeared in the file manager.

Now I get 2 choices: root directory or a blank box.  If I click 'root directory' it downloads, but I can't find it.  If I type in any combination of http or ftp urls in the blank box it says 'invalid directory (or something like that) and won't download.
 Confused

I'll go back and try again with your folder suggestion.  Thanks again.

well, there's already a 'forum' folder in the directory along with public_ftp, public_html and tmp.  I'm wondering if it goes in a folder at all?  I can get my SMF forum page and set everything up through the smf admin, so does it go in the the LPCP at all?

Argh!  I also just noticed that if I download it to the root directory, the url is http:///abcdef.com.  I want it to be htttp://wwww.abcdef.com/forum    Confused

You may want to contact support at support@lunarpages.com or support.lunarpages.com and advise that you want to install SMF into the forum folder.

Be sure to include the domain name/primary domain and link to this forum page , and we can then further look into this.

Ooops - forgot to update the thread.   Not Me

LP responded to the ticket super fast (thanks!)  Thumbs Up and they told me I needed to put "forum" (no quotes) in the box.  No dashes, slashes or anything.  So, if your website is lunarpages.com and you wanted your forum to be called lunartalk, you would type in lunartalk in the box.
