Updates come pretty regularly (unfortunately, I can't give exact time frames though). In the main Softaculous screen you should see a notice (something like "The are x updates available" and a little yellow Sticky Note image) whenever newer versions are ready for install/upgrading. If you click that "link" the next screen should list all the scripts needing attention. I have to say after getting more used to Softaculous I really prefer it to Fantastico but that's me.
