I am currently hosted at geocities, im paying for my domain etc. And recently I just registerd here becuase I realized it is much more worth the money. Great support, great hosting, and I think this will be very much better. My trouble is that I'm not sure how to transfer the domain from them to lunarpages. I read about changing the DNS numbers. But geocites doesnt seem to have anything you can change. Or I might have missed something else on lunarpages?

Please help

You need to login to domains.yahoo.com and get the registry key for your domain name, then you need to login at http://www.melbourneit.com.au/maintenance/

using that registry key... you will find an option there to change to our nameservers.

It might sound confusing, but it is pretty easy  "[Smile]"

Thanks very much, I emailed you and I'm not sure if you saw it yet. I just have a small problem. when I got to domains.yahoo.com. I went to login. I got this message "Our records indicate that you are a Yahoo! GeoCities Premium user.

Please click here to modify your account."

I clicked on the link and it brought me to the normal geocities control panel.

Max is right, you have to change the DNS settings, but not on lunarpages, you have to do it through the person you registered the domain with.

Your domain seems to be registered with Yahoo (Yahoo and Geocities are one company now).

I looked up some information about your domain, and found a phone number and address you could try.

Tech Name............ YahooDomains Techcontact
  Tech Address......... 701 First Ave.
  Tech Address.........
  Tech Address......... Sunnyvale
  Tech Address......... 94089
  Tech Address......... CA
  Tech Address......... UNITED STATES
  Tech Email........... domain.tech@YAHOO-INC.COM
  Tech Phone........... +1.6198813096

I'm not sure if anyone will answer it, but you could try.

Other than that, I suggest that you try surfing around their website until you find something or try e-mailing them.

Good luck

I'll try those. I searched over the site about transferring domains. I only got something how to transfer to their own webhosting. If I cancel my service with them. (It seems as soon as I hit thtat cancel button everything will be lost immediately so I didn't take any chances) Wll it destroy the domain name? And then I might be able to re-make the name?

It would probably not destroy the domain name.

It is more likely that they would keep it for a while, then it would become "DETAGGED" http://www.nominet.org.uk/ref/detagged.html

This is how it is done with .co.uk domains.

You should try to contact them first.

So far I have not received any emails back. Would it be possible to get a new domain here? If so, how?

It depends on when you registered with Yahoo.  They switched registering services about 1 1/2 years ago.

If your account is newer than that Yahoo uses Internet Names Worldwide (a division of Melbourne IT Limited).  If it is older, they used Network Solutions/VeriSign.

If you log in to the site listed in the response above ( https://console.domains.yahoo.com/ ) and click on "view registry key", it will show you the key that identifies your account with INWW.  Then go to http://www.melbourneit.com.au like Max said.  At the top of the page there's a menu - pick "manage".  Then enter the name of your domain and the registry key that the Yahoo page gave you.  From there, pick "Name Server Functions", and change the name servers to those that LunarPages uses.

One reminder too - if you don't tell Yahoo to close your account, they will keep charging you the #35 to renew the domain name for you.  Make sure you pick the right option when you close the account  "[Smile]"
