Due to various theft, brimstone, act of god, type occurrences it's been a very long time since I was last in a position to update my website, I am using Serif WebPlus 10 to download my site from Lunar Pages and to upload to the site... the download part has worked just fine, but now that I need to upload - I can't do it.

I know the username and password - those are not the problem - I get an error message:

"FTP Error.  An error has occurred: The computer is disconnected from the network"

What is meant by this I have absolutely no idea, since it cannot mean the internet is disconnected as I can easily go wherever I want on the net at the time of attempting to update the website.

So what does it mean and how can I upload to, or update my website?Huh?

Perhaps if anyone knows what the correct procedure is as to the things that should be entered elsewhere in the WebPlus10 publishing your website box, there might be an error there?

For instance for "FTP Address" I put: franontheedge.com
for "port number" I leave it at the default of 21
for "folder" I put: public_html

(as the original lunarpages instructions tell you to)

then comes username and password - which I know very well...

all that remains is "passive mode - uncheck if you have problems connecting" - well I've tried it with and without that checked - it makes no difference...

all that's left is "website URL (optional)" and once again I've tried it both with and without that... nothing.

Please can anyone help?Huh

I am rarely able to successfully connect to LP by FTP.  I get basically a timeout error, and then the error you receive.

Might try an alternative FTP client to see if it gives you the same issue:

You can get a few good example ones here...

FarquarQuoc,
So how do you update your website then?

Mitch.

I didn't know I was using an ftp client...

In fact I don't know how to use one at all.

I have however, published the website to a folder, which I understand is necessary prior to using an ftp client... only what do I do next?

I did download the CoffeeCup free stuff when it was offered to people who renewed their website space... but I've never used it, I don't know how to.

Is there a hint somewhere? or perhaps a tutorial even?

(P.S. how do I ensure that I get email notifications of replies to this thread?  I'm not getting them)

Sure, we have a few video tutorials on FTP programs here:

http://www.lunarpages.com/tutorials/

Just look under:

Shared Hosting Tutorials > Upload Your Site with FTP

It looks like WebPlus 10 is having problems FTPing into your hosting account.  Trying to FTP into your hosting account with another program would let you know if it is a problem with the connection in between or just a problem with the program.  Hope that helps!

Thanks.

Unfortunately I cannot see any of those.

I also cannot get into my CPanel - it needs a password.  I tried my normal password for LunarPages, it did not work,  I tried the password for the forums - that did not work either, I tried every password I could think of, nothing worked, so I requested to be notified of my password (or sent a new one, whatever the wording is), nothing happened.

I put in my email address, and I've had nothing whatsoever...

I keep staring at me email inbox and my junkmail box, just in case, but nothing, nada, not a dickie-bird...

I'm thinking that if the password on the CPanel isn't working maybe that's the problem with updating my website, and not a webplus thing at all.
I'm hoping so anyway, cos I just don't understand that coffeecupftp thing at all nor the filezilla one either, and without being able to access any tutorials, I'm totally scuppered....

I'm so depressed, why does doing the website always have to be so fraught with such immense difficulties?

Oh well, I'm now trying to email support seperately from the Lunar Forums, that may work...

Might want to contact support@lunarpages.com on this one.  They'll be able to get in there, check for problems and hopefully get you back up and running.  Thanks!

Yes, sorry.  I've just tried that now, something may come of it... I certainly hope so anyway.
