Hi,

I just signed up with Lunarpages, and I wonder if someone has installed one of these weblogs, Moveable Type or Greymatter?

And for Moveable Type, did you get it to work in the installation type that does not use the MySQL
base?... I would like to avoid that.

I know both of them have been installed by people on here before.

I think they used the mySQL database setup.

Hopefully one of the people will see this message and be able to help you more.

Thanks for the feed-back

I think I saw somewhere that Moveable Type can be installed without MySQL base, if the Perl module "DB_File" is installed on the server...

Anyone knows if this is the case with the Perl that Lunarpages has installed?

It would be good to know, before I go ahead and try...

Regards,
Paul-Erik.

It is installed.

If you want to find out if anything else is installed, on the front page of your control panel, there is a link which says "Installed Perl Modules Click to View", it will list all of them for you.

i use movable type, but use mysql as the backend.  if you run mt-check.cgi, the script will tell if you have everything required to run movable type.  i just reran the script on mine and it says that DB_File is not installed.  however, it may be different for you if you're on a different server (i'm on mercury).  if it turns out that you don't have DB_File installed, you can either request support to install it or go with a mysql backend.

I'm using Movable Type on galaxy and here's what mt-check.cgi reports:

The following modules are used by the different data storage options in
Movable Type. In order run the system, your server needs to have at least
one of these modules installed.

    DB_File...
Your server has DB_File installed (version 1.806).

    DBD::mysql...
Your server has DBD::mysql installed (version 2.1026).

Hi,

It's all running fine now..;-) I got both Greymatter and Moveable Type to run just fine without using a database.

The newest version of Moveable Type gave an error, that the Perl module HTML::Template was either too old or not installed....

I then wrote a mail to support... and a little later it had been installed.. GREAT support!

After that, it was just a matter of standard configurations...

Best Regards,
Paul-Erik.
