I'm new to website hosting so I have several questions.

Are the webpages that you upload via ftp easy to move/delete when you're updating pages?

I have only worked on an intranet site that is easily updated since I have access to the server from my local pc.

My intranet site is written in ASP and I use the server to test my pages before uploading them before others can use them.  Is that possible with the web server that we are assigned to or do we need to test this on our local computer with some type of software prior to loading the pages?

If we do have to test it locally, are there any good freeware programs that I could use?

Does it take long to add ASP to your account and how do I go about doing this?

Have I exceeded my question limit yet?     "[Smile]"

Hi,

Yes, the webpages you upload via FTP are easy to delete, you can do it by FTP aswell.

To test your ASP, just upload it into a folder and run it from there.

For example, you could put it in a folder called "test" and run them, before you put them for everyone to use.

The only way you could test your ASP locally is by installing your own webserver, it's not really worth it.

To get ASP added, please e-mail billing@lunarpages.com and ask them to add it for you. It should be done very quickly.

If you have Windows XP Pro or Windows 2000, it comes with Internet Information Services which has ASP functionality.  You could therefor test your ASP on your local computer.

Even if you run Windows 98, you can install ASP support with your web server.  Go to control panel, add/remove Windows components, and under the web server, click in Documentation, and under that in details, you'll see asp.  Check that in also.

As for FTP, I recommend CuteFTP or WS_FTP (though I prefer CuteFTP myself).

These are both straightforward FTP programs that have an easy-to-use interface.
