Caution:  extreme newbie question   "[Smile]"

Does your website have to be totally finished before you upload it the first time?

Most of the things I've read tend to say to not put 'under construction signs' on your site.

If I wait until I'm totally satisfied with my site, I'll never upload it.   "[frown]"

Hi astonishing   "[Smile]"
Go ahead and upload it.
To be honest, most websites are never finished..Mine's been under construction for two years.   "[biggrin]"

Just put your index page in there and work from that .   "[Smile]"

I went ahead and uploaded it.

I still have lots of work to do before I submit it to any search engines.

Thanks for your advice.

Don't put underconstruction images and text up... you don't want that getting indexed on the search engines!

But by all means, upload as soon as you've got something! Its better to have a partial/small site now than waiting a while until you have the whole thing finished.

Just dont put links to the stuff you dont have finished yet instead of putting up lots of undercosntruction notices. They do have a tendancy of screaming 'newbie'. But if you dont put them up everywhere, you'll come across as a pro thats just 'adding more content' instead!  "[Smile]"

A finished site.. is a dead site!
