Have you read about Google Chrome yet? So why are we launching Google Chrome? Because we believe we can add value for users and, at the same time, help drive innovation on the web.
All of us at Google spend much of our time working inside a browser. We search, chat, email and collaborate in a browser. And in our spare time, we shop, bank, read news and keep in touch with friends -- all using a browser. Because we spend so much time online, we began seriously thinking about what kind of browser could exist if we started from scratch and built on the best elements out there. We realized that the web had evolved from mainly simple text pages to rich, interactive applications and that we needed to completely rethink the browser. What we really needed was not just a browser, but also a modern platform for web pages and applications, and that's what we set out to build. Hello every one! Has anyone installed google chrome? There's a very intereting explanation on it: http://www.google.com/googlebooks/chrome/#I start using it, it's fast!  However just testing it at the moment. Cheers! |

Its very fast and I like it. Not a development browser though like Firefox, so I would miss my add-ons. But over all, superb. I`ll probably pop it on my little travel laptop.  |

Alright, got a chance to play with it for a little 'bit. I really like the minimalistic design to it all. Don't like the fact that it considers each tab though to be a separate process. The browser will include a JavaScript Virtual Machine called V8, built from scratch by a team in Denmark, and open-sourced as well so other browsers could include it. One aim of V8 was to speed up JavaScript performance in the browser, as it’s such an important component on the web today. Google also say they’re using a “multi-process design” which they say means “a bit more memory up front” but over time also “less memory bloat.” When web pages or plug-ins do use a lot of memory, you can spot them in Chrome’s task manager, “placing blame where blame belongs.” Source: ( Google Chrome, Google’s Browser Project) |

Don't like the fact that it considers each tab though to be a separate process.
I believe that the intent is to keep one bad tab (hung-up page) from bringing down the others with it. Here is a review: http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/ptech/09/03/review.chrome.ap/index.html. The reviewer considers Chrome to not quite be ready for prime time. His experience has been that Firefox (and to a lesser degree, Chrome) let Flash take far too many resources, while IE8 has much better control over resources. |

Yeah, will be really exciting to see how this pans out a few years from now. Then again, with Google having it's own browser - do you think it will be more of a target for people to hack/find exploits or less?

and also if you type "about:%" google chrome crash Haha, wow, and it crashes hard. I think it's just way too featureless. Have you looked in the Options? I mean you can't even have it warn you when you close multiple tabs. |

My Kaspersky labelled it a generic Trojan . . . . so I didn't install it.

I was going to switch to it but then realized that it doesn't allow you to import Firefox bookmarks. It accepts IE but not Firefox. Interesting how partnerships work.

it's a total different browser than FF you can't compare apples with bananas
FF is a gecko browser
Chrome is a applewebkit browser
