I always see these types of threads elsewhere, so I figured - why not try to start one here?  Doh  Feel free to share your own desktop here with all of us.  I am always interested in seeing how people have their PC desktops organized.  Is it clean?  Is it cluttered?  What type of wallpaper and icons do they use?

Only thing that I ask is that you keep it "family friendly".   Grinning

I'll start!   Grinning

As you can see, I like to keep my desktop clean.  When I'm working on a project or a specific task, I often use my desktop as a work space to organize in folders, move files around, ect.  Then when I am done, I'll just send all of those files to a folder somewhere on my PC to get it out of the way and get a clean start again.

Alright... somebody else's turn now.  Bouncin for Joy

I have only stock wallpaper (desktop), but I do have a few images I've taken with a digital camera that I'd like to turn into wallpaper and add to the standard Windows wallpaper repository. Are there instructions anywhere for doing this (Windows XP)? My understanding is that it's a nonstandard image format. Do I need to obtain a special utility to do this? It would also be nice to do this for the Linux side (Ubuntu's GNOME desktop). Thanks!

Ooohh- I'll play  Very Happy
I tend to run applications at full screen (having only a 17" crt monitor)- I lust after dual monitors with the desktop stretched between them!
My "showoff" screenshot:

WinXP running under VMWare server on one desktop- Google earth on the other, but the closest I have to an everyday work desktop:

I'm running a different OS now, and don't use the Karamba widgets (that shot is from 2 years ago), but my desktop pretty much looks the same- no icons on the desktop, taskbar and panel at the top, auto-hiding taskbar with my most used applications at the bottom.

MrPhil, you should be able to right-click on the desktop - go to Properties, and then hit the Desktop tab.  Then you should see a "Browse" option in there were you could browse to the folder where your images are and set them as your desktop wallpaper.  Been a while since I used XP 24/7 - been on Vista now for a while. As for how to do the screen shot - just hit the "Print Screen" button and then using the image editor of your choice hit paste.  For example, in Paint - you would just go to Edit > Paste.  On file format, go with .jpg (will be the least amount of trouble probably). Hope that helps!

bryantrv & Radeon, very nice!   Applause

Who's next to join in the FUN?!?

I'm making a video intro for my website.  Still in the works, but once done, I will upload it to youtube to market my site.

We like to alternate the wallpaper at least a couple of times per week. My son likes to have nothing but icons filling the desktop. My daughter drags a vacuum across the screen every once in awhile to clear the mess. This shot is from a good day. although not for Ol' Teller and ....
