Any have a water cooled system.  Looks interesting and quiet (do they make water cooled power supplies?), but seem terribly pricy.

(btw, I'd be interested in either of the mice.  Just one, wouldn't want them to breed).

There indeed may be the enigma to water cooling - it still uses fans. Granted you can use 120mm fans spinning at 800-1200rpm, but there still is air movement noise - this is of course if you are not overclocking, then it sounds the same as aircooled. I dont think you will ever see a water-cooled PSU. The space is too tight and you'd have a lot of connections that are right angles or almost, creating much potential for leaks, and that would not be good around high wattage.

Your best bet, is a PSU like the Phantom, or one with a 120mm speed/temp controlled fan. like the Enermax Liberty Series. The one in my wife gaming box, spins at 800rpm at idle (which is really hard to hear) then speeds up to 1300-1500 under a load, which is excelent. Thermaltake makes a line with 140mm fans that spin really slow and I can barely hear my 700 watter.
Under load it makes an audible but very quiet noise.

Cheers!

Great info.  I may give it a try when I get a new computer.  I use to have 2 (and sometimes 3) computers on my desk, got to be too much noise.  Now I only have one and just access the others remotely.  The 100' of space and several walls do wonders for the noise level  Grinning

Yea, I practically eat this stuff.

I have 5 computers in my 12 by 12 office - 3 PC's, a server, and a laptop. Its rather quiet in here.

All the fans in my PC's are "silent ones" that spin slower than there standard versions or only spin up under load when the temp rises.  They key is to use larger or more fans that spin at a lower RPM. They sweet spots are:

80mm = 1500-2000 rpm      (3000+ rpm  standard)
90 mm - 1300 - 1800 rpm     (2500 rpm standard)
120mm = 800-1200 rpm       (2000 rpm standard)

Make sure the fans are double bar bearing or better. For like $20, not including the power supply, one could easily replace the fans in a noisy case.

Also make sure the rpm/temp control for your cpu fan in turned on. Or invest in an all copper cooler with 90mm fan. Zalman makes a few. Also use Artic Silver 5 when mounting any heatsinks.

Cheers!

Happy Happy Joy Joy I enjoyed the reviews on your site, very interesting with good information. I did find myself navigating back and forth through the review trying to remember what the price was. Would be nice if you listed the msrp along with specs. Did not spend much time in the forum as these old eyes rebelled at the white on black background, but otherwise thouroughly enjoyed the site. I did think the performance mice were very cool!
Thanks and Best Regards,
Bill

Yea,

I did consider putting the MSRP for my reviews, but they are often wrong.

For example, that Copperhead has a MSRP of $80, but can be found on Newegg for ~$55.

I could link the search like this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?DEPA=0&type=&Description=copperhead&Submit=ENE&N=0&Ntk=all

But, I want to distance myself to any possbility of being associated with or bedfellows of online etailers. I feel it gives us legitimacy. So its a Dilemma.

Cheers!

Since you review hardware and stuff (right?) may I give you a tip?

Buy Jreviews, I also using it on a site (which I am still busy with) and I have to say it's a fantastic review script for Joomla.
You can also download a trial to try it first, See reviewsforjoomla.com.
Then, Your users also can add reviews (if you want off-course)....           It's just a tip! Smiling
