Now I'm really confused - I have a current add-on domain that I want to change to simply redirect to another add-on domain. I want to use another site in that add-on space. With other host companies I have used (gasp) I just log into the vdeck and redirect the site to another. I do NOT have to have an add-on domain for it to be able to redirect it or pay monthly hosting fees. Are you saying that in order to redirect a domain (with no actual pages) that I have to pay 2.50 a month for it to redirect? I do not want it to redirect to my primary account but to another add-on.
Thanks in advance!

I may be confused here as well, but you may be able to just set the 2nd addon to point to the same folder the first one does ?? If you dont have the second add on hosting slot then yes it would cost $2.50 per month if you are already using your one free one. PLease let me know if I am on the right track here !

You can always redirect by putting this in your .htaccess file:

can try this redirect: RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} addon_domain$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ folder/file [L]

folder/file would be whatever the other add-on folder and index or file you want to point to

Hope this was more helpful than confusing !

Thanks Randy,
I purchased another addon space for it. I didn't quite get the redirect info - in the future, can I do that without purchasing another addon, or it that redirect also for existing addons?
Appreciate your fast response!

To have the multiple domains, yes the add-on fee will be needed.  Did you post the data that Randy gave you into your .htaccess file or is that the part you are confused about?  If so, could you explain?  Thanks!

Hi Mitch,
I did not post the data in the .htaccess file - I used the redirect feature in the addon domain area of the cpanel. That's what I have done it the past with my other add-ons. Is it better to use the .htaccess method? for search engines? or what exactly?
Thanks!

Well I am not sure which one would work better for search engine optimization, but if you got it working - that is the important thing.  Smiling

to be honest, when you use the redirect feature on the addon domain, i guess it would add the redirect given above to your .htaccess file for you... so i would imagine they would be both the same!!

My server, Unitas, has just been updated to accept the 10 domains that you are now offering. The problem I am having is that I keep getting this message when I try to add a new domain. I've changed the domain name to newdomain and currentdomain for reference.

================================================================
Addon Domain Additions

Bind reloading on unitas using rndc zone: [currentdomain.com] Error reloading bind on unitas: rndc: connect failed: connection refused Bind reloading on ns1 using rndc zone: [currentdomain.com] The subdomain, newdomain.currentdomain.com has been added.

Error from park wrapper: newdomain.com is owned by another user.

Removed Entry from httpd.conf The subdomain, newdomain.currentdomain.com has been removed.

newdomain.com could not be setup. The subdomain newdomain.currentdomain.com was not setup either.
================================================================

I've verified the nameservers are ns1.lunarpages.com and ns2.lunarpages.com

I added the newdomain successfully in the past, but then removed it because I thought I was going to host it somewhere else. I believe the problem lies in the fact that I had previously added, then removed the newdomain - and there is some sort of reference that thinks it's still owned by somebody else.

I ran a simple test and tried adding another domain that I had, which worked... then removed it, then tried to add it back. Again, I got the previous error.

I've emailed tech support, who sent me instructions on how to add the domain; which I followed religiously; and after scanning the instructions in this forum I can say without a doubt that I am not doing anything wrong - especially after my own tests..

Has anybody else had this same problem?

I haven't heard back from tech support in 2 days, and if I send another message, I'll be moved down the queue -

Can somebody help me?

Hi,
I have a java enabled business hosting account. When I add an addon domain to my account, will the addon domain also be able to run jsp and servlet files?

I'm currently facing a problem of trying to get a index.jsp page to run on my add on domain. The system just returns me a 404 error page. However, all static html pages are running fine on the addon domain.

How can I run jsp pages on my addon domain? Please help...

I'm having the same problem. I've tried adding a domain only to get the same response. Although the name of my new domain seems to appear in other sections ie the email account creation. It just doent seem to want to set up.

Im also getting some problems trying to install through fantastico saying my cPanel isnt the right version to install...but thats next on my list. lol.  Confused

Would really appreciate any help anyone can offer, thanks in advance.

The cost of the java upgrade is per domain and subdomain. You would need to email sales@lunarpages.com and request the addition.
