Database issues
«

Ive recently paid for a years worth of hosting, and cant manage to set up a database right, kinda annoying me now! The tutorials on here arent even for teh same program that is on the hosting?!?! It's using phpmyadmin for the databases which i understand how to use perfect, but the program that actually launches is something totaly different.
Anyway i made a database called vbulletin, and then i made a username and password for it.
Typed these into my config file for my vbulletin installation and it keeps saying they are wrong, ive tried everything. Changing the username and password, changing the database name, everything. I put my username before the database name and everything like that, still no joy...
Any help?

I done that and it got passed on to someone else, and im still waiting.
I dont want to moan, but im just in a rush to get things going, and i cant seem to find a documentation on the site to help me with making the database and everything else, because the program its loading for me is ASP Enterprise manager, and the docs ive found are using phpmyadmin.
Is there a set way the username and passwords come out?
For the database i put 'vbulletin' and username as 'Liam' password 'somethinghere'
now when i put them into the install file, should i keep them just like that? Or should they be different?
Confused, and impatient!! Sowwi!!

Are we talking "MySQL" database, or a different one (PostgreSQL, MS SQL, ...)? phpMyAdmin is for MySQL, PostgreSQL has its own web-based manager, and no doubt MS SQL has its own.
If you're using MySQL, don't forget to prefix both the database name
and
the user name with your cPanel account name and an underscore (_).
$dbname = 'MYACCT_vbulletin';
$uname = 'MYACCT_Liam';
This is necessary because all accounts on one server share one MySQL server, and it needs a scorecard to tell the players apart.
