Hello - - --- -- - -

In trying to password-protect a directory, the cPanel UI only seems to allow me to protect the folders on the same level as public_html. I want to be able to protect a directory inside public_html, or a subdomain.

One certainly can do this. What am I missing?

When inside of cPanel, in the Password Protection Screen you can click on the little folder pictures to go deeper inside of that folder.  So say you wanted to password protect a folder inside of the public_html folder, just click on the folder picture next to the public_html text and then it should take you inside a level deeper where you can find the folder you need.  Also check the video tutorial we have on this here:

Oh, phooey, that is subtle (clicking on the folder rather than the directory name). I should have caught that, as similar subtlety exists elsewhere in cPanel.
