I'm launching file manager within the cpanel, but when I launch the file panel and click on the directory I want to go into, it doesn't show me any sub directories within the root...is this a bug?  I need to unzip a file on my server and I'm not sure how else to do this except with the file manager.

Click on the folder icon next to the folder name to go into the folder.

It is a bit confusing at first because clicking on the directory name itself is different that clicking on the icon on the left of the directory name. One of them send you into the directory, while another give you a list of choice on what you want to do with it (rename, edit, delete, unzip (for zip files), etc ...)

also ensure you are using a file that has the .zip extension, if I am not mistaken .tar and other zip extensions will not provide the unzip option through filemanager. I would suggest using FTP if you still having issues with it as most FTP clients to provide an unpack command.
