We've been suffering for more than a month of intermittently server overload and found a lot of "exit signal Segmentation fault (11)" errors in the Apache log. Lunarpages told us it could be a RAM shortage.

So we agreed to pay for a RAM upgrade ($39/month for 1GB RAM added). To no use. Server performance got better but the errors were still there. A couple of days ago, in order to solve the issue, Lunarpages admins performed a general software update but it was useless.
Their proposal, at this point, was to either recompile Apache (by ourselves!) or to upgrade to CentOS 4, by paying more money ($75 one time fee).   shocked..! Hard to believe but true.

While we were thinking about what to do, the situation got worse. Our server crashed a few hours ago and is now completely unreachable. We thought it was one of the usual (!) intermittent crash and decided to wait a little before updating the support ticket and open a new one (which we did 3 hours ago). But it was not a transient problem. Server is dead. It's not even answering to ping.

We're writing here hoping to get some attention.

Now, the problem it's not the offline time, even if our competitors are gaining advantage from us being offline and we're loosing sponsor money: it's that we did not cause this situation, actually lunarpages did, but we're not even getting an answer or a simple feedback from support. We're not responsible for our dedicated server crash and we want it back, fully functional and without HW or SW errors, because this is what we're paying for.

Thanks.

Every night there was a backup but on the same disk. Lunarpages told us they were making back ups too. Please edit the phone number: it is correct but maybe the person is not answering because she's busy.

Hello,

We provided you with backup space, on a different server and then you are responsible for backing up your data.  Can you please send an email to dedicated@lunarpages.com with some contact information.

Thanks in advance.

About the backup: we remember asking to some admin (we don't remember the name) about it. We were told some script could be added by him to the scheduled cron jobs and we agreed. We never spoke again about this with nobody but there were  several cron jobs executing at night, we are sure about this.

Did you receive the email? We're not getting any feedback.

Thank you

Hi,

I see that you are working on your new server with the support via help desk ticket. Please update the ticket if you are encountering any issues after this emergency move. Unfortunately, members of these forums can't help you much in this situation.
