Hello,

I have a big problems with installing tomcat5 using
# yum install tomcat5
i get this
...
...
--> Running transaction check
--> Processing Dependency: jdk = 2000:1.5.0_14-fcs for package: java-1.5.0-sun-compat
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Missing Dependency: jdk = 2000:1.5.0_14-fcs is needed by package java-1.5.0-sun-compat

I already have JDK installed

# rpm -qa|grep jdk
jdk-1.5.0_14-fcs

java alternatives is set to 1.5.0_14 as well
# java -version
java version "1.5.0_14"

Any suggestions?

Hello,

Did you try to remove jdk-1.5.0_14-fcs and run yum install tomcat5 again? Usually yum takes care of packet dependencies and setup everything needed by the target you setup.

Yes, I have tried many things... I have installed jdk 6, I have removed java 1.5.0 as well... Only thing that changes is the version number in that message about missing dependency. It was something like this:

> Error: Missing Dependency: j2sdk = 2000:1.4.0_16-fcs is needed by package java-1.4.0-sun-compat
* this might not be the exact message, I'm writing according to my memory, but you get an idea...

It always popup the same error, but version number varies depending on jdk and sun-compat installed.
