Can someone explain to me how to enable this extension? Looking at php.net, the doc says their is no file to download. So I guess it must come with the php package then. I don't know to much about SSH but I did finally figure out how to view the php.ini file for editing. But not being about to scroll or copy/paste, etc. etc., their must be an easier way to change the php settings. Do we have access to the actual php.ini file that we can download and upload? I can't seem to to access usr/bin/ directories using my ftp.

Anyways, if someone could explain to me how I can enable this, that would be great.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi MagicMike304,

It would help alot if you mention if your server has any control panel installed.

Ability to scroll and copy/paste depends on the SSH client you use. If you are on windows, we recommend to use putty to ssh. There is a howto about using it available at http://www.lunarforums.com/lunarpages_dedicated_web_hosting/how_to_login_to_your_dedicated_server_via_ssh-t26372.0.html.

As for enabling exif extenssion in PHP, all depends on the control panel installed on your server. If you use plesk or no control panel, you need to have needed rpms to be installed, if you purchased cPanel, you can rebuild Apache and PHP with needed options using Apache Update in WHM.

I have CPanel installed. Most of what you said didn't make any since to me.  Confused I'm new to the dedicated server thingy and just now found how to log into SSH via CPanel.

I found the Apache Update in WHM, but when I clicked on it, it looks like I will be reinstalling things. I don't want to mess anything up and I am not sure what settings are currently set, but I want to keep things the way they are and the only change is to enable EXIF.

Thanks for you help.

Hi Mike,

It will be easy for you to use Apache Update. Select "Previously Saved Config (** DEFAULT **)", add the exif module on the step 6 and proceed with build. This will re-build Apache and PHP with current settings and exif module added in PHP.
