I have both a shared hosting account and a dedicated server, can I use the shared hosting account as a backup location for my dedicated server?

Hello Roller,

No, you can't use shared hosting for backups from dedicated server as this will break the following item of Lunarpages AUP (http://www.lunarpages.com/aup.php):

"You agree not to run a banner exchange, free adult tgp (thumbnail gallery post) and/or free adult image galleries on your website. You understand and agree that shared server space is for business and personal website operations purposes only and not for unrelated data storage."

Apparently, backups can't have relationship to the site that should be hosted on shared account as per AUP.

I would think that if he is merely mirroring the website, and not using it for just storing backup files, it wouldn't violate the AUP- like if the dedicated server had mainsite, com and the shared had backupofmainsite.com.

Yep, but it should be a working site and not a number of backup archives.

So basically as long as I back up a live site and keep it live on the shared hosting account it should be OK. Thanks for the answers! Very Happy
