Out of the box Lunarpages offers a backup to a 2GB backup server (in Dedicated Server packages).
By default this backup script runs once a day.

Where (in which directory) is this script? Is it a crontab perl script ?

Assume I want to change something in this script (e.g. names of backuped directories, target directories,...)
Can I modify this script directly or only through cPanel/WSH ?

Hi Peter,

If your server has cPanel installed, this panel comes with backup script executed once a day via cron. The script is located at /scripts/cpbackup and it is not recommended to modify it as it can be overwritten during any cPanel upgrades scheduled on daily basis by default. Configuration options for the script can be setup under "Configure Backup" in WHM. If you need something more customizable, you'll need to take a look at 3rd party or self-written script.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for the hint.
The options on the "configuration backup" page in WHM looks like as if I could specify an arbitrary, external ftp server and not necessarily the "default" Lunarpages backup server. Is this correct?
Assume we have another server (not hosted by Lunarpages) can we specify the IP+Login+PW
of this ftp server as target backup resssouce?

Or does Lunarpages force users to use their ftp server as backup server (at least for the backup setup
through WHM). In this case we have to disable backup through WHM completely and write our own backup script and activate as cronjob.

Hello Peter,

You will be able to specify whatever FTP server you need as a backup target. We are not forcing anyone to use our dedicated backup sources, but we are just setting up the servers (by default) to make use of the included feature.

You may or may not take advantage of this feature - it is entirely up to you Smile

Thank you.
