now my question is can i have a link from the forum back to my website

To change the link in your forum's header to your website's homepage instead of the forum's homepage, open up the index.template.php file that is located in your lightning theme's folder and do a "Find/Search" for "header" until it lands you on this section of code:

Quote
<div id="wrapper">
      <div id="header-l">
         <div id="header-r">
            <div id="header">';
               if (empty($settings['custom_logo']))
                  echo '
                  <div id="logo-bg"><a href="'.$scripturl.'" title="">', $context['forum_name'], '</a></div>';
               if (!empty($settings['custom_logo']))
                  echo '<div id="logo"><a href="'.$scripturl.'" title=""></a></div>';
                echo '
               <div id="mainmenu"> ';

Change what I show above in bold RED to this:

Quote
<a href="http://nursinghelpdesk.com" title="">

Be careful NOT to MISS removing the two apostrophes ('.$scripturl.') for that attribute, but DO NOT remove the quotes, because if you don't remove the apostrophes, you will probably get an error.

Just a tip ... always edit the copy on your local computer and make a backup copy of a previous working copy, just in case your latest edited copy gets corrupted or doesn't work after you make changes to it.

Hello Laylow;

how do i install a chat room on my website and is it possible for the member who sign in into smf, come back to the chat room and use the same id's or how do i go about chat room intallation.
-> This depends on if you want to use the chat provided in cPanel or not, if you decide to use the one in cPanel all you will need to do is follow the on-screen instructions. Beginning with the(phpMyChat) icon in your cPanel.
 Asfor the forum question - I have seen it done, but I am not completely sure of how to accomplish it - sorry, but I do not know much about messing with databases.

-> You mean one of the support chatrooms from Fantastico? The live support scripts are programmed to allow users to request a chat with a support rep. I do not think this is possible, without editing the script itself - which might cause a violation of the license.

Hope this helps.

I'm afraid I can't help you with the Chat stuff, as I don't use one myself, but Danielle uses a "Flash Chat" script on one of her own forums that allow users who sign into her SMF forum, to not have to login again.

Here's a post of hers where she gives links to Chat scripts (the Flash one might be the one she's currently using, however, I'm not 100% sure about that):

http://www.lunarforums.com/forum/index.php?topic=32449.msg278297#msg278297

Hopefully, if she reads this thread, she'll respond to whether it is or not.

Other options would be to do a "search" through these forum for "chat scripts" as there's been previous discussions. Also, Google search should also have a LOT of various Chat scripts to choose from.

Just DON'T bother installing the ones found in cPanel, as those do not work on LP's system anymore.

Alan - is cPanel's phpMyChat still working? I know "Entropy Chat" is disabled, but I didn't realize that the phpMyChat was still available.

*edited - Okay, I did a search through these archives for phpMyChat and found Danielle's post regarding it, so it seems best not to use that one either, since there seems to be a security issue Smile:

You are right, Leigh, FlashChat is the one I use on my writing forum and that you reference in the one thread 2 posts above.

I haven't done this myself, so I can't give you instructions, however here's the "Ad Mod" that may be what you should install for that:

http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=255

Here's also a search result listing for criteria "Google Adsense" via simplemachines.org's forum. That's probably the best place to search/ask for help for SMF specific questions.

I recommend that you always do a search first on their forum, before posting your question, because some forums get upset if you don't take the time to make sure the question wasn't asked previously and an answer already given.

I just realized that I didn't link you to the "Google Adsense" search results in the simplemachines.org's archives  Smile. Here it is:

I have answered your other thread for that info, since it's in the correct forum and might be useful for someone else using the Mesh theme and wanting to link their title in the future  Smile

Here's the link to my post in your other thread:
