hello all Smile  i am new to owning a website and do not speak the webhosting language Razz  so please forgive me if this question has been answered in the forum somewhere- but i did not see it (but also do not know quite what i am looking for).

my website designer has uploaded my site and everything is fine except for two things.

the first question (in her words):

If a website is created in Photoshop and imported into Dreamweaver, is
it possible to make an image into an email link. If so, how? (Using
the standard emailto: with the address is not working)

the second question:

i have links to other sites on my site but when the click open they don't work.  if you want to see this for yourself go to www.inharmonyhealingarts.com and click on the tab 'best bets' and then click on someone's site that i am recommending.

can you help me please?

thank you!

thank you for replying!  can you let me know for sure when you talk to your web guy?  i also want to know how to embed a document in my site so that people can click on the link and pull it up to print (it's an intake form).

i had no idea building a website was so complicated! Sad

thanks again Smile

I think the code you are looking for is:

Code:
<a href="mailto:yourname@yourwebsite.com">text link</a>

If you wanted to use an image instead of text:

Code:
<a href="mailto:yourname@yourwebsite.com"><img src="http://www.yourwebsite.com/images/emailme.jpg"></a>

I visited your web site and the "best bet" link worked for me, but you might want to remove the space in the address for it.  With the links on that page - it looks like you are missing the full link.  Instead of this:

Quote
web.mac.com/ryanbrewer/Yogz.net/Home.html

You should be using this:

Quote

Hope that helps!

thank you mitch!  i will forward that to my site designer.  she is not a web master per se- she is my best friend and a graphic designer so she designed my site for me.  hence the confusion about posting it.

do you know how to add a link on the site where someone clicks and opens a document i have prepared that they can print and fill out (it's an intake form)?

thank you Smile

What type of form is it?  If you want to put a link up so they can download it, you would just need to do this:

Code:
<a href="http://www.yourwebsite.com/documentname.txt">Download this Document</a>

Hope that helps! Smile

it is a word document for them to fill out with info about their health history, reasons they are getting a massage, etc...

so all she needs to do is put that link there and then attach the form to it?  (not sure if that sounded right- i don't speak web hosting language).

thanks again Smile

Yes, that should work then.  Smile  Just make sure that the link is pointing to the correct file.

hello again Smile  so i told my friend how to put the document link in the site- but she is under the impression that it will take an hour just to add the text in about the form and she prefers to tell them to email me for it.  she designed this site in dreamweaver and uploaded it into photoshop- so not sure if that is why it takes longer...?  if you know about this and can recommend a way she can do it quicker and easier please let me know!  i wish i knew how to do it so i could just do it myself!

thank you again for all your help Wink

Not sure about how she would do things specifically - but I wouldn't think it would take exactly that long.  Not familiar with the Dreamweaver interface totally, but there should be a way to view the "HTML" view of things so she could quickly make the edits. Good luck!
