I've been working with dreamweaver for about a week so i don't know much but if you go to the page on the link you'll notice the title and a link bar. I noticed that there is a gap in the two headings is there a way of reducing this gap to bring them closer together. Thank you in advance.

When you say "gap" are you meaning that you want the "link bar" to be closer (almost touching) the gold frame of the top "title"? If this is what you mean, then ...

Since your images look like this ...

Title image:

Link bar image:

You will have to crop them (especially the bottom area of the "title" image) more closely to the gold frame, if you want to reduce the spacing between them.

If that's not what you mean then, I don't see any other gap when viewing your page in IE7, FF 2.0.0.1, Opera 9.01 or Netscape 8.1.

If you are seeing like a white gap or something (like the two images are not butting together) then I don't see that Confused, thus what browser and OS are you using?

You have my question right. So your saying that in order to move these two images closer together i would have to edit the actual pictures outside of Dreamweaver. Thats cool i just thought maybe there was an easier way. Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, you would use the "crop" tool in whatever image editing software program you are using.

There might be a default minimum spacing that a browser inserts between two images. That is, maybe they can't be exactly adjacent. I looked at your source code, but am not experienced enough to know if that's what's happening.  If you want there to be no space between them at all, it might be most effective to use your editing program to merge those two images into one and just display the one.

Edit: oops, except then maybe the second one won't function as a link bar. I don't know.

In your source code, maybe try removing the width= and height= specifications and see if that brings them closer together. Like this:

<body>
<div align="center">
<img src="Untitled-1.jpg" /><img src="links.jpg" align="absbottom" />
</div>

I'm also unsure about the align="absbottom". Is that displaying the second image as far toward the bottom as possible? That could also introduce space at the top of it, maybe the space you're trying to eliminate?

sixshooter, are you seeing MORE than about a 1/4" gap?

I see only a 1/4" distance between the two gold frames of each image in ALL four browsers I viewed your page with (I have the latest version of each browser), thus the method I mentioned would do the trick to get rid of those extra black margins surrounding the gold frames to bring them closer together on the page.

However, if you're seeing MORE than a 1/4" gap between the two gold frames, then that would be an entirely different story. Let us know if this is the case, and if so, what browser version you are using?

Ok, Leigh, I see what you did. You saved the images to see what they really are, which I didn't do. Yes, in IE7 I'm seeing only the 1/4" gap, most of which IS the extra black area at the bottom of the top image. So your solution is correct, and my comments about the spacing can be ignored.  Smile

If there is any spacing issue, it will be most easily seen by setting the background color to white and noting whether there's any unwanted space between the two.

I didn't save them, I could view them by just right clicking on the image in the page and select "View image"  Smile

So your solution is correct

Well, we'll have to wait and see if sixshooter comes back with saying that he/she sees MORE than the 1/4" gap  Smile
