Hi All! I am trying to get my 2nd website posted but when I attempt to upload the files its telling me that I cannot connect to the server. I am using smartftp as my ftp software, have it downloaded, keyed in my server supplied by LP, etc.
Any advice, help, suggestions is totally appreciated.

Hi sapphire,
We would need to see the settings you are using to connect (other than the password) to see what might be the issue. Also, when you say your 2nd website, is this a new account or an addon domain under a primary account?
Also, why aren't you just using Dreamweaver if you have that on your system? They have a built in ftp client...
Thanks

This is a new account for me. I have two sites..one that is live, theriverwebdesigner.com and the second one that I want to take live called reelhealthy.com.
With dreamweaver I am trying to "put" this site but it tells me there is a problem with the server.
Any other thoughts. Nancy

You will need to post the settings you are using for your ftp host, etc. As Danielle says, *** out your password.

Type exactly what you have typed in for the FTP host.

When I open the FTP program, it asks me for the server name, user id and password in the appropriate fields, just fill it in accordingly?
I attempt to "put" the site but it says it cannot connect...I don't understand...

Yes you fill it in accordingly, there are a couple of things you can put into server name, what are you typing into the server option???

Okay, if fanstasia is your domain name is it propagated yet?
If not you will need to use the format:
servername.lunarpages.com/~fansta2
Change the following parts from above,
severname needs to be changed to the actual name of the server your account is on. So if you account is on Virgo, you would change servername to "virgo"
fansta02 needs to be changed to your user name. Please note that you must include the tild (~) mark between your user name and the / mark.
When your domain name has propagated you should be able to use that alone.

Actually, for Dreamweaver you will need to use the following if your domain name isn't pointed to us yet under Remote Info for the site defintion:
Access: FTP (select this from dropdown) FTP host: fantasia.lunarpages.com Directory: /public_html Login: username (whatever your Cpanel username happens to be) Password: password (whatever your Cpanel password happens to be)
Check "Use passive FTP"
Click the "Test" button to test if the settings are connecting.
Please note that in the future, when someone notes that we need to see your settings, we need to see the above settings that I noted other than the password. The reason being that you are using the wrong ones, but we have absolutely no idea which ones are wrong because you didn't provide them. Without seeing exactly what you put down, we have no way to know why it isn't working. This holds true for setting up email in a local client, ftp setting, MySQL database settings, etc. Please alway remember to provide all configuration settings for the fastest possible resolution to an issue.
Thanks

Ok...I have done one or two things wrong and of course I can't figure it out...I think I have fixed my ftp problems by adjusting the info that needed to be keyed in ... Now, when I type in the URL, I get the directory /index and several links beneath. What's wrong? nancy
