Hi. How do I install hit counter script  extracted from CGI centre in dreamveaver webpages?I chosed the  design I wanted and  clicked for Make Up script.Copied it and  went to Insert tool in dreaweaver under HTML> scripts. Pasted it on index page and saved. Browse for preview , it never show up, uploaded to the  remote site, It also never show up.

I used to do it this way in other software (Blue Voda) and it worked.This was the first time I used script for hit counter  provided by CGI centre after I have read about it. Before I got it from other  free sources. In dreamweaver, it did not?What went wrong?any tips is appreciated.

Post a link to your webpage where you installed the hit counter. It helps us to help you better to see the actual page (we can then look at the source code, etc.).

<img src="/cgi-sys/Count.cgi?df=xuank3.dat|display=Counter|ft=7|md=5|frgb=100;151;224|dd=B">

These are the script code generated automatically by CGI center, I copied it an dpasted on to index.html, saved , previewed and uploaded to remote site but  to un avail.

I opened index.html pages and went to insert> html > scipts,    Pasted it ,saved and uploaded.The hit counter  never shown up as expected.

Okay, I viewed your index.html page from your website and you have this for the code:

Quote
  <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
<img src="/cgi-sys/Count.cgi?df=xuank3.dat|display=Counter|ft=6|md=6|frgb=100;151;224|dd=M">
  </script>

You need to remove the JavaScript tag, it shouldn't be inside those, so REMOVE what I show in RED and it should work.

I installed the hit counter on a test page on my server to check out your problem and it works, so it should work for you after you remove the script tags.

Mr.leighsww.

Yes, I did as told, and it works now.Wonderful!Actually I donot know where those red phrases ( I had removed as indicated in red by you) came from where?The orignal codes I had earlier pasted in was exactly what they looked  like Now.

Anyway, thank you very very much.Coding is the best way to  go around in web solution as evident from this  experience.
